  • Founder & Mechanic

My first bike was a blue hand-me-down with 12-inch wheels and a coaster brake. I can still vividly remember the feeling of riding out of the street for the first time, exploring little paths in the neighborhood, and der & Mechanicthe sensation of the road beneath my wheels.

40 years later, cycling is still a passion of mine—something I can talk about endlessly. I love sharing my knowledge, discovering problems, and finding solutions, whether I'm brainstorming with friends or helping customers with their bike projects or tours.

After spending 10 years in an office job, I started working as a junior mechanic in a bike shop in Washington, DC, in 2012. Over the past 11 years, I've gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, and I'm proud to be part of a shop like Gregario.

  • Founder & Finance

Back in the early 2000s, I began cycling on a beautiful black-and-pink Colnago, outfitted with Campagnolo components. That bike ignited my passion for cycling, and two decades later, that same love for the sport continues to drive me. Alongside Edward and Jasien, I’m fortunate to now be part of Gregario Cycling Services—where we live and breathe bikes. I’m excited to combine our expertise and passion to create something truly special, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!

  • Founder & Bike Fitter

My journey into cycling began during the revival of the fixed-gear scene in Amsterdam. As a teenager, I dove headfirst into the culture, and while most of my school friends eventually moved on from their fixies, I found myself hooked on the mechanics—tinkering, adjusting, and experimenting with every detail.

Fast-forward 15 years, and I’m studying in London, with a part-time job as a bike courier. By then, I had swapped my fixie for a geared bike to tackle the hills of London—specifically, a Concorde Vicenza, an old cyclocross bike with road tires. It was around this time that I discovered local criteriums and group rides, and that’s when the true passion for road cycling really took off.

Still in London, alongside my work at an NGO, I spent countless hours helping friends with bike issues in my spare time. When life brought me back to Amsterdam, more and more people began seeking my help with their bike setups. That’s when I decided to turn my passion into a career and became a bike fitter. Balanced BikeFits was born.

Through this journey, I developed a unique, methodological approach to bike fitting that focuses on understanding the 'why' behind every decision, rather than relying on rigid norm values. I believe in tailoring each fit to the individual needs of the rider, optimizing both performance and comfort. Now at Gregario Cycling Services this mindset fits perfectly —being part of a bike shop that prioritises both the human and the enjoyment side of cycling is a truly inspiring experience, and I’m excited to contribute to that vision.

  • Marketing, Strategy & Shop

I got into cycling through fixed gear bikes back in 2006, so about 20 years ago. I’ve always had a fascination for distance and traveling on the bike, something that has slowly built up over the years. From visiting my grandma in Rotterdam by bike; to riding to Paris on track bikes over multiple days; to riding 500km in one day; to Paris-Brest-Paris; and the Transcontinental Race. Even though the ultra races are interesting, these days I’d rather take it easy and enjoy the time I spend on the bike by just touring.

After finishing my studies in branding, I started working in the bike industry, first for a fixed-gear shop called Pristine, which later became a bike shop/cafe called Meesterknecht (both now closed, unfortunately). Afterwards I started working for Twotone Amsterdam, a consultancy in Amsterdam with a big focus on bikes, working with some of the biggest names in the industry. Via a little d-tour working for a bike shop in Switzerland, called OBST&GEMUSE, I work for Gregario since mid 2024.

  • Mechanic & Shop

I still recall the exhiliration of my first bike ride free from training wheels. Gathered with my brothers and other neighborhood kids, someone pushed me on my pink and white Barbie bike down the street. The way I remember it the sun was setting at the horizon, Morricone's "Gabriel's Oboe"' was playing from nearby home windows, and the other children, tearful at my success, erupted into applause. In that moment, the world opened up for me.

Okay, maybe it didn't happen quite like that, but, it felt like that. I couldn't articulate it as a child, now I can. My love of bicycles has always been tied to their ability to democratize travel and public spaces. Since that pivotal moment in 1994, I've been fortunate to ride off of dirt jumps, race on velodromes and gravel, and travel both short and very long distances on bikepacking trips. The bicycle is a beautiful machine, and with maintenance and a good meal, it can take the able-bodied and willing very far.
